I got into Left 4 Dead from the various machinimas, gameplays and YTPs I saw online growing up, but I finally played the games myself when I got my first personal laptop in middle school~ The Left 4 Dead games have been some of my favorite games for a long time, but life got in the way and I ended up taking a break from most games for a few years. After returning to L4D2 last year, Nick snuck back up on me again and stronger than before!
I was initially drawn in by his sarcastic personality and his character growth through the campaigns. The 'tough guy' trope is so worn out IMO, but Nick being forced to get over his ego throughout the game was really cute! He's still a grouchybutt, though he grows closer to the other survivors and learns to be a team player ^.^ The novelty of Nick is that he's fictional. I can play with him in Source Film Maker like a digital barbie doll, and after I get off my computer I get to play with my real doll of him~ (* ^ ω ^) If I could put him in a jar like a medical specimen, I would. Despite how much space he takes up on my site, I don't 'selfship' with Nick, and he's not really 'oshi' material. He's my Tingy.
As cheesy as it is to admit, Nick has encouraged me to pursue art and learn new skills. I'm relearning HTML and CSS to make my website mostly dedicated to him, and I learned a few art mediums & programs just to make stuff for him. ♡ Maybe I'll learn Javascript to make a Newgrounds game where you can rip him apart.
